Truth, Justice And The Comics? Mind if I use that?

What’s wrong, asked a police officer when I staggered up to his patrol car. I stepped back to protect them from blood suddenly spattered on pavement. I coughed so violently paramedics and a doctor was taken aback in the time of the Ebola Scare in America. I coughed blood into an oxygen mask on an ambulance with sirens that screamed on the way to Lincoln Hospital in The South Bronx.  I needed a new lease on life.

A lease is one of the documents required by a healthcare provider.

The landlord’s reps wouldn’t give my mother the lease she is entitled to sign but instead gave leases to other apartments, leases declared null and void by legal council.

They said the lease was sent to her but how can we get letters from Con Edison and re-certification applications for healthcare after our mailbox was ripped out of the wall 2 days after a city inspector warned the landlord’s henchmen not to interfere with an investigation or NYPD will be summoned. The mailbox was vandalized after the building manager and several of his employees barged into the apartment to tell me to call off a inspection unaware that a city inspector overheard them in the next room. The landlord’s henchmen wouldn’t fix the mailbox but instead gave us a key to another box and keys to the apartment they wanted us to move into.

The landlord’s reps offered $500 to $$$ in the thousands as an incentive for us to move.
I had a warning letter from Con Edison that service was in danger of being cut off on our side of the building because the landlord did not pay a bill in thousands of $$$. I may look stupid to some people but I can put 2 and 2 together like Detective Colombo.

The landlord’s reps can promise cash to us but they can’t pay Con Edison?

As I write this, I have to stop to look for cotton to stuff into my ears due to the non-stop running of children taken out of city shelters and into apartments that rent for $3,000.00 paid for in part by the city. The noise is brutal for my mother who pleaded with the transient tenant upstairs who doesn’t speak Spanish.

The hyperactive children run late into the morning (1:00 AM) and that should be a health concern for child protection services.

I’ve seen some of the transient tenants buy boxes of soda with food stamps for their kids at the C-Town supermarket that is a few feet away from the building turned into a pit stop for homeless families until the city can find affordable housing for them.

I saw Channel 12 news van in from of the building to report on a kid bitten by a rat. I’ve taken a video of rats in the courtyard in daytime. There are more rats at night that look like black running shoes size 13. A plague of rats fed by transient tenants that throw food out of windows can only lead to more bite marks on babies in cribs and on the elderly.

Bubonic Plague caused people to cough blood in The Dark Ages but the doctor said it looked like I had lung cancer. Some people in the ER looked at me with fear as I lay in bed with blood around my mouth like a vampire trying to kick the habit. I thought of mother. I have to defend her. I made a deal with God and the lights became brighter. I passed out. The doctor showed up hours later with x-rays. No lung cancer. No Ebola. No HIV. No Tuberculosis. My blood pressure was dangerously high. I walked home at 3 in the morning through a ghostly mist. There was a man in front of the building. He was looking for someone to open the door. He identified himself as a reporter for The New York Post. He asked me if I had seen UFOs in front of the building and held up his cell phone to show bright lights that hovered a few feet away from the building. The light took me back in time to the day a bright light appeared in front of my bedroom window when I was a boy. It tried to pull me out as a wind scattered my belongings around the room way, way before I ever seen an episode of The X Files. There are aliens on Earth. One of them is called Poverty. So I make like a mild mannered reporter with this story as well as an attorney for my mother. This is a record of what I remembered of my life and it sure helps a lot to have proof of life. I have evidence of an unfair eviction proceeding to try to intimate us into signing a lease to another apartment. I’m not finished with the landlord’s henchmen. This is just beginning. I hope to get The Bronx DA Office to look at this report and draw conclusion to a court date. To Be Continued
